The FONL board of directors meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. Meetings are open to all members and the public. Board meetings will not be held in November and December. The next meeting is June 11.

Ceremony reopens gardens, spring book sale


The Friends of Navarre of Library and Santa Rosa County reopened the gardens around the Navarre Library on Thursday, April 26. Speakers at the outdoor ceremony included Patt Stewart, president of Friends of Navarre Library; Susan Cook, library manager; Mike Sandler, member of the county library advisory committee; Gwen Wilson, county library director; and DeVann Cook, county director of human resources.

The ceremony also began three days of book sales as the FONL held its spring sale. 

Entities represented also included Navarre Garden Club, Beal's Landscaping & Nursery and Holland's Cutting Edge. New plantings have been installed along the front of the library and along the west side.

Holley Hill presents pottery program



Jason Stokes of Holley Hill Pottery (above) shows how to work a piece of new pottery during his appearance Tuesday, March 28, at the Lore, Legends and Learning at the Library program. He also displayed a number of completed works (below). Stokes is the son of Brenda and Marty Stokes, who operate the Holley-based business. Holley Hill is considering a display of its works in the library.




Director promotes PSC Santa Rosa Center



Michelle Horton, director of Pensacola State College's new South Santa Rosa Center, expects to see enrollment at the new facility jump from its present 370 students to 1,100 when the fall  term starts this year. Horton described the college's plans and offerings Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the Lore, Legends and Learning @ the Library.

The 35,000-square-foot two-building complex sits on 11 acres on Nantahala Beach Road. It eventually will encompass 10 buildings, state of the art in both physical plant and student/faculty amenities.
